Do you bring your quad to the work parties? should we? or is it better to show up and have them shuttle you around. Should we bring anything else i.e. shovels and rakes.

Thanks guys... yes you will always need your quad to get to the work area and we usually do some riding as well. A shovel, etc. ( whatever you can safely carry on the quad) is appreciated but DNR has some pretty good tools too. I've sent an E - mail to Elyse about what to expect but havent received a reply yet so i will post it when i get it.

What are they planing on doing at walker?
I don't mind helping if there is something going on but I normally shoot on the second Saturday. So I don't want to give up a shoot for nothing.
Also is there a place to log hours? My dad and I normally spend several days cleaning up trails and picking up garbage during the year. Nothing formal just something we do to help give back.

There absolutely will be plenty to do so no worries there. I'm thinkin this weekend will be sign installations and general trail work. Elyse is the head DNR MO FO in carge of Walker Trails and will have a time sheet to sign Sat. You can also print your own off from here...

http://www.northwestquad.org/Forums...fault.aspx

and either bring to the work party or bring to our club meeting and Chris or I will be glad to deliver them to DNR for you. Always remember when doing trail maintenance to include your travel time to and from as well.

This from Elyse.......

Saturday we will be hauling rock to one of the new motorcycle trails in the upper valley.  If enough people show up we may have some sign installation going on as well.  We will meet at 9am main parking area; hope to see you there!  If you do not want to meet at the main parking area Pat Hodgeman is heading right up to the upper valley, you could tie in with him and drive you vehicles right to the job site.  Call me if you have any questions 360-708-5078.

If you've never done a work party at Walker it may be best to just show up with your quad and a shovel (if you wish), gloves, etc.  to get an idea what its about. We generally have M/C people work their own trails but they do need help with hauling gravel some times. If you cant make it at 9:00, let us know so we can get you directions to the trailhead.

I guess it will depemd on the weather.  Though I must admit working on motorcycles trails that I will never use doesn't thrill me.  As it is I can"t get my big cat on a lot of the quad trails because of those pesky poles are set to narrow.

Thanks Mike for putting this up and for all of those who went. I am unable to make this month because i blew out my lower back last Sunday. I should be good to go for next month, hope you all had fun and the good thing about helping on a motorcycle trail is they do a lot of work on ATV trails as well and there is a lot of hard workers in that group. All trails need work and they have worked to get a new trail. I am certainly glad someone is getting a new trail.

And a thanks to Chris, Jason, Michael and Pat Hodgeman (a club member as well), who has put in nearly 200 hours so far this year! We saw quite a few quads go by ,slow down, loooook, and decide they did'nt have the heart for it.  Perhaps in their next life, eh?
